Promoting Factoring in Support of Intra-African Trade

The African Export-Import Bank (“Afreximbank”), in collaboration with FCI and the Africa Capacity Building Foundation (“ACBF”), are pleased to invite your esteemed institution to nominate delegates to attend a One-Day Factoring Workshop under the theme: “Promoting Factoring in Support of Intra-African Trade” to be held at the Hotel Sol Dunas Beach Resort on the island of Sal, Cape Verde, on 9 November 2017.

 

The main objective of the Workshop is to promote factoring as financing tool to support African SMEs in the context of intra-African trade. The Workshop is targeted at Factors, Banks, Corporates, SMEs, Financial Institutions, Regulators and other stakeholders in the factoring industry. The Workshop will provide networking opportunities for participants to discuss and share factoring experiences. It will include discussions and presentations in workshop style, panel discussions and case studies, and will cover topics such as:

• Rise of Factoring (The Definition and Mechanics, Risks and Benefits, Factoring Variations, Growth of Factoring in the World and Benefits for SMEs)

• Key Success Elements in Setting-up Factoring Activities / Role of FCI / Advantages of FCI membership.

• Risks and Mitigants in Factoring.

• Mechanics of Cross-Border Factoring and Intra-African Trade.

• Understanding Reverse Factoring.

• Credit Insurance in Factoring.

 

The event will be officiated by Mr. João António Serra, the Governor of the Central Bank of Cape Verde, and speakers will include Mr. Peter Mulroy, FCI Secretary General; Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Chair of the Africa Chapter of FCI and Managing Director, Afreximbank; Mr. Roger Atindehou, Director of Operations, ACBF; and Mr. Aminou Nassourou, Director, BW Factoring, as well as many other experts in the field of factoring.
