Çağatay Baydar, the newly elected Chairman of FCI, welcomes the readers; he shares the key factors in his mission as the new Chairman.

Peter Mulroy, FCI Secretary General, and Neal Harm, Deputy Secretary General, who will take over Peter’s role on 1 March 2024, speak about their transition period. They have been discussing FCI organisational structure, membership, finance, administration, advocacy, regional chapter, HR, marketing and promotion, FCI services, Executive Committee, technical committees, next steps regarding the legal project and, amongst others, the FCI 56th Annual Meeting in Seoul, 9-13 June 2024.

In the Connect section, Alberto Wyderka reports on the opportunities of congresses related to the industry for FCI in the Americas. He highlights two of them that he recently attended. Thompson Lui wrote the second part of his article about risk evolution in supply chain finance in a previous newsletter. Betül Kurtulus interviews Paris Georgiades, Bank of Cyprus, on their international business model, an example of new factors. Nassourou Aminou reports on events from the last three months.

For the Education section, Aysen Cetintas reports on EBRD and FCI partnership with the recent events: the 2023 EBRD TFP Trade Finance Forum in Vienna, EBRD- FCI Factoring and Supply Chain Finance Conference in Vienna and EBRD-FCI Factoring and Supply Chain Finance Conference in Marrakech that took place just after FCI Annual Meeting. Spyros Tsolis explains one of the most popular training methods during the last few years, which is complementary to the e-learning courses, tailor-made training. Already, ten companies took this opportunity in 2023.

In the Influence section, Betül Kurtulus explains the benefits she sees in Supply Chain Finance and Digitalisation in the CEE & SEE region. Lin Hui describes why relying on big companies is not a good strategy for banks and financial institutions.

Meet with the new Executive Committee that was elected earlier this month in Marrakech. The events and meetings attended in the last three months are reported in FCI spreading its wings. Finally, Marwan ElHibri examines the impact of Islamic Finance solutions, reporting on a white paper written in collaboration with FCI.
