In receivables finance, the cost of undertraining rarely appears as one major problem. More often, it shows up in the daily running of the business through rework, slower onboarding, uncertainty in decision-making, and missed opportunities to support clients with confidence.
Over time, these issues affect service quality and performance. In a business where execution matters, the strength of your team’s knowledge makes a real difference.
That is why education remains so important in our field.
Training is not simply about completing a course. It is about giving professionals the practical understanding they need to perform well, work more consistently, and support the wider business. It helps newer staff build a strong foundation, while giving experienced professionals the chance to deepen their expertise and strengthen their judgement.
For some institutions, investing in education has been a key part of building long-term capability and supporting business growth. As Ravi Valecha, CEO of India Factoring and Finance Solutions Private Limited, explains:
“India Factoring started our journey on FCI – Two Factor model with zero turnover in 2016 and achieved a turnover of EUR 425 M with a market share of 45% in India, thus number one in India and number 7 across the globe. This growth journey has been possible due to the strong support by the FCI and the FCI members. In India, Factoring has had limited growth, and thus ready talent is inadequately available. The best option for us has been to groom our team using FCI Academy certifications and am glad to share that at any given point 70% of our team is certified for one program or the other. Afterall growing business would be impossible without core understanding of the product and using FCI Academy has been the bedrock for India Factoring. We continue to invest in our teams using FCI Academy certifications.” - Mr. Ravi Valecha, CEO, India Factoring and Finance Solutions Private Limited
A well-trained team is better equipped to support clients, manage risk, and contribute to stronger business performance. Training is often delayed when teams are under pressure, yet it is usually needed most then.
As Aysen Çetintaş, Education Director at FCI, notes:
“In receivables finance, strong teams are built through strong understanding. Education helps professionals develop the confidence, consistency and practical knowledge needed to perform well in their roles and support the wider business. At FCI Academy, our aim is to provide structured, industry-specific learning that helps members strengthen internal capability and invest in long-term growth.” - Ms. Aysen Çetintaş, Education Director, FCI
