How to use live translation and captions with Wordly on Zoom

For this webinar, we provide Wordly to support multiple languages which features a live transcript with written translations (many language options)

You can use Wordly during the session to follow along in your preferred language. You don’t need a Wordly account or to download the Wordly app to see translations started by your host.

Wordly inside Zoom

This option is recommended for reading the translation.

  1. Join the webinar in the Zoom app.
  2. Accept the Notification for Wordly.
    • If you decline by mistake or don't see it, in the Zoom toolbar, click Apps and open Wordly.
  3. In Wordly, select your preferred language in the dropdown.
  4. Follow along using the live transcript in the Wordly panel.

Troubleshooting

  • Click Apps in the Zoom toolbar (you may need to click More (…) first), then select Wordly.
  • If you still can’t see Wordly, leave the webinar and rejoin using the Zoom desktop/mobile app (not a browser join).
  • If Wordly still doesn’t appear, ask the organiser to re-share the Wordly link in the Zoom chat and use the browser option to read the transcript/translation.

  • Click Apps (or More (…) → Apps) and select Wordly again to reopen the window.
  • If it won’t reopen, leave and rejoin the webinar, then open Apps → Wordly again.

  • Make sure you’re using the Zoom desktop or mobile app (not a browser join, if possible).
  • If Apps still isn’t visible, your organisation may restrict Zoom Apps. In that case, use the Wordly browser link for reading the transcript/translation.

If the button isn’t visible, it means the audio output for that language isn’t supported, or you’re using the Display or High Contrast display modes.
