Fundamentals of Factoring & Receivables Finance

In partnership with the EBRD TFP, FCI is proud to announce the Conference on Fundamentals of Factoring and Receivables Finance, hosted in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The event will take place on 17 May 2023, during the 2023 EBRD Annual Meeting. This event will offer EBRD TFP members, FCI local members and industry professionals the opportunity to meet, network and discuss the latest developments in the region.

Factoring continues to grow successfully both in mature markets and in emerging markets. Through their control methods and permanent monitoring of the receivables on their clients’ debtors, factoring companies or factoring divisions of banks can provide more financing than traditional lenders and, at the same time, limit their credit risks to a strict minimum. Factoring, therefore, plays a significant role in financing economic activity, especially during the financial crisis. Traditionally it is small and medium-sized companies that benefit most from this financial instrument, but more importantly, companies use factoring for flexible growth finance or restructuring purposes.

The conference will open with Dr. Rudolf Putz (EBRD Head of Trade Facilitation Program (TFP)) and Mr. Peter Mulroy (FCI Secretary General) welcoming attendees. The programme will start with Mr. Peter Mulroy presenting on Global Industry trends and the local market environment. Attendees will hear about the developments of Trade and Receivables Finance through the Lens of TFP, SME F&D and LTT Teams of EBRD by Ms. Irina Tyan (EBRD TFP Business Leader for Factoring Principal Banker), Mr. Paolo Monako (EBRD Director for Financial Products SME F&D), and Mr. Michel Nussbaumer (EBRD Director for Legal Transition OGC).

FCI’s Education team, Ms. Aysen Cetintas (FCI Education Director) and Mr. Spyros Tsolis (FCI Deputy Education Director) will share presentations on the understanding of Factoring and Reverse Factoring - answering the big questions and the advantages of Factoring & Reverse Factoring and the comparison to Traditional Trade Finance as they look at factoring as an alternative Financing Solution for the SMEs.

Ms. Betül Kurtuluş (FCI Regional Director of CEE, SEE and Middle East) will moderate two discussions on the case for Factoring as an Alternative Tool for Financing - Turkey & Poland Success Story of the Factoring Industry and on Client Experiences from different Client Segments, featuring leading experts from the region.

Participants are expected to be EBRD members, participation banks, FCI members and potential members that wish to learn what factoring is in more detail. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this exciting event. If you are interested in attending, register today via the website here.
